Hello and
welcome!

The purpose of this site is to share information with
the public that we serve, helping you better understand the
jobs that we perform. We are a small department that
covers a geographical area of three square miles with
approximately 3,000 residents. Our emphasis is on
customer service; protecting the life and property of those we
serve.
The village of Fort Edward is located along the banks
of the Hudson River, approximately fifty miles north of
Albany.
Our department employs five full-time officers
with a supplemental staff of six part-time officers.
Part-time officers are assigned to all day to day operations
with some having specialized training related to police master
instruction and school security.
We are the only municipal department in the Warren and
Washington county region that supports a S.C.U.B.A.
team. The S.C.U.B.A project is headed by Chief Walter
Sandford and Officer Sean Mahoney through grant application,
in foresight to the expected increase in river activity, with
respect to the Hudson River Dredging Project. The
department is currently working in conjunction with the E.P.A
, N.Y.S.D.E.C. and General Electric to satisfy the public
safety needs of the local residents.
We Strive for excellence, never forgetting, we are
human.
Our
Warmest Regards,
Walter
